Rosie Ward.

Sara was my post-natal doula and worked with us up until my son was 10 weeks old. The reason for wanting to have the support of a doula was because my mother passed away two years ago and I have no other family support.

I chose Sara because being an older mum, I had already gained lots of life experience. When interviewing other doulas, I felt that because of the wisdom and knowledge I had already accumulated, the choice of doula meant I was looking for someone very special. As soon as I spoke with Sara, I knew I would be in a privileged position to be supported by her.

Due to lockdown, we were unable to plan clearly how Sara would support me practically (due to social distancing) and it was a great disappointment that Sara could not support me in person during the birth. However, she was a great confidence boost during labour when my own confidence had been shattered by my first midwife and I called Sara for advice. After having a conversation, her advice made me feel supported and more confident to continue my vision of home and natural birth (which I achieved).

Sara then visited our house, every week, for about four hours. I felt completely supported by Sara. Her ability to be present for myself and my son Noah made me feel very held and built a strong relationship of trust. I watched her with Noah and learnt not only practical skills but also how to form a relationship with my baby built on being calm, strength and resilience.

Sara was very professional and completely reliable and very respectful of myself and my partner. She is highly skilled and experienced at her job and brings this all to her client in such a way that meets their personality naturally.

Her communication is exceptional and always made me feel taken seriously and listened to. To have a doula support you is to welcome a stranger into the most profound and intimate experience you will have as a woman. Sara enriched this time, nourished and nurtured me, and supported my growth as a mother. I highly recommend Sara.

What a lovely caring person Sara is. I was really apprehensive when I found out that I was having twins and Sara came well recommended. Not only was I put at ease but Sara helped me to control my breathing and guide me through things. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

I absolutely recommend Sara to be your Doula. She is such a kind and caring person who helped put me at ease during a lockdown pregnancy in 2020. You could tell this was far more than a job to Sara and she very quickly became a friend. Despite knowing a lot more about birth now, I would not hesitate in asking Sara to be my Doula again for any future pregnancies x

Sara's reply.

Thank you Jacqueline, You were so calm, collected and serene throughout your labour. I was honoured to be able to support you. x

Sara did an antenatal visit for us as support during Covid has been limited. We found it very useful and she was totally on board with what we wanted from birth. Sadly didn't get to use much of the info due to preterm birth but Sara has also been invaluable post-partum. She has helped us to get a little sleep, do some housework and unload a little during our difficult first weeks home from the neonatal. She has been reassuring about breastfeeding and has been a shoulder to (socially distanced) cry on. She is the only person I trusted to look after my 4lb baby whilst I got myself back together. I am so grateful to have her in my baby girl's life and I would strongly recommend her to any new parents - both ante and postnatal. We intend to hire her as a birth doula if things go better next time too!

Thank you Sara

Sara was invaluable to us from pregnancy to birth. She gave me and my wife the confidence to make the decision we felt were safe and right for us, when the NHS midwives did not. She was a lifeline during the labour process, everything happened so quickly and Sara provided a sense of calm in the whirlwind of craziness unfolding. My wife and I will be forever in her debt. She is so kind and approachable - which is such an important thing, as it can be a little daunting inviting a stranger to join you through such a private experience. From the moment we met her Sara was friendly and approachable and made us feel very comfortable. Thank you so much for being with us during the birth of our son, Sara. The whole journey was so much easier (and stress free) thanks to you.

All the best.

Jonathon.
